East 69, West 59
This game was nip-and-tuck through much of it, and the West led 37-36 at halftime. But from a 41-41 tie, the East girls went on a 15-2 run to put some distance between them and their West counterparts.
Both Bria Sneed of University and Paige Spencer from Randolph Southern scored 14 points to tie for game-high honors, and teammate Rachel Muessel of Madison Shaw Memorial was close behind them with 12 points for the East.
Leading the West girls were Casey Fougerousse of Shakamak with 13 points and Jocelyn Boyll from North Central-Farmersburg with 10 points.
Rachel Muessel prevailed in the 3-point shooting contest, while Bria Sneed was named MVP.
“They (West) made shots in the first half,” Sneed said, “so we decided at halftime to come out in the second half, cut off their driving, and play better defense. We did and we won. I wanted to play hard today because it’s my final high school game, it’s the postseason, and everyone is watching. I’m going to Earlham in the fall and play basketball there.”
