East 72, West 50

The East girls bolted to a 31-22 lead at halftime and expanded their lead in the second half. Four girls from the East scored in double figures. Leading the way was Kaylee Walters from Fort Wayne Snider with 19 points, followed by 15 points from Warsaw’s Kelci Freds and 11 points each from Kelsey Bryant of Greenfield-Central and Taylor Ford of Warren Central.

Leading the attack for the West was Genesis Robinson of Evansville Harrison with 17 points.

Kaylee Walters also won the 3-point shooting contest and captured the MVP award.

“I wasn’t coming into this game looking to score a lot of points,” Walters said. “I just wanted to have a lot of fun, which I did. It was great winning all three – the game, the three-point contest, and MVP. Only five girls showed up for practice, but we played really well together as a team. I’m going to IUPUI to study health services management. It’s kind of iffy now as to whether I’ll play ball there or not.”
